Cape Fear Festival of Trees
Head to the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher through January 3rd for the Cape Fear Festival of Trees. Check out beautifully decorated trees by local businesses, organizations, and individual artists as the aquarium is transformed into an enchanted forest. Any visitor who buys a general admission ticket to the aquarium can also experience the tree festival.
Tree Fest 2022
You can check out even more trees at Tree Fest 2022 on January 14th and 15th at Independence Mall inside the JC Penney corridor. While the trees are free, a $5 donation per household is suggested. There will be over 7,000 individual plants available with a variety of black walnut, bald cypress, red maple, and more. Experts will be on hand to help people pick out the right trees and tell them how to take care of them.
Tree Fest started in 1997 after hurricanes Bertha and Fran destroyed the area. The annual event is a way to help the community rebuild the local tree landscape.
Wilmington Coffee Fest
If you’re a coffee lover you can’t miss the Wilmington Coffee Fest on January 29, 2022. Several of Wilmington’s finest coffee roasters and distributors will be brewing a variety of blends. Taste different artisanal blends as well as watch demonstrations and sample food from area food trucks. This year’s coffee fest will be held at Waterline Brewery and Hi-Wire Brewing Wilmington in historic Downtown Wilmington. There will be plenty of coffee roasters and shops available at both locations.
Azalea Festival Chefs’ Showcase
The North Carolina Azalea Festival is holding a pre-event with its Chefs’ Showcase. The kickoff event will be held at Hotel Ballast on Saturday, January 29, 2022. Each ticket includes a plated, 5-course meal prepared by notable chefs as well as wine pairings, light entertainment, and a silent auction. Chefs include Sheri Castle, Host of “The Key Ingredient with Sheri Castle” on PBS North Carolina.
42nd Annual North Carolina Jazz Festival
Calling all jazz lovers! The 42nd Annual North Carolina Jazz Festival kicks off on February 3, 2022. This year’s festival will be held at Hotel Ballast on North Water Street in Wilmington. When it comes to winter festivals in Wilmington, this one is a favorite as it is one of the oldest jazz festivals in the country.
Internationally known jazz musicians from the United States, Italy, and Australia will be on hand to entertain crowds. A host of musicians is set to appear from February 3rd-February 5th. Ticket prices vary depending on which day you go.
Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Festival
If you want something to look forward to in late winter, there’s the 4th annual Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Festival on March 12, 2022. This year’s event takes place at Live Oak Pavilion at Riverfront Park.
This is a festival filled with food and fun. You can enjoy everything from beer to bacon to biscuits and more! There’s music and bourbon and beer tasting too. Each admission ticket comes with a sampling glass so you enjoy your beverages as you make your way through the festival.
